Security & You

Rockford Bell Credit Union has taken every precaution it can to safeguard your financial data in bringing it to the internet. However, there are a few steps you can take to help us safeguard your information:

  1. PIN Security - Your PIN (Personal Identification Number) is the "key" that unlocks your account. Just like you would never give the key to your house to a stranger, you should NEVER give your PIN to anyone. NO RBCU employee will ever ask for your PIN, and any attempts by anyone to obtain your PIN, should be reported to RBCU immediately. In the event you lose or forget your PIN, contact RBCU and a new PIN will be mailed to you.

  2. PIN Selection: It is important to select a PIN that is not easily guessed. Do not use any number that could be easily linked to you, such as your house number, phone number or a partial Social Security number. A random set of letters and numbers is best.

  3. Windows Password Storage: Some versions of the Microsoft Windows operating system may offer to "remember" your PIN information for you, so you do not have to enter it when you login to Internet Banking. RBCU recommends you DO NOT use this feature. It may save a few keystrokes every time you access your account, but it will also allow anyone else that uses your computer to have the same access. And in the event your computer is lost or stolen, a thief will also have this same easy access.

  4. Logout - When you finish using the Internet Banking system, always click on the "LOG OUT" menu option. This ensures that you are logged out on the system, and the next person to use this computer will not have access to your account.

By following these few simple steps, you can help us safeguard your financial information, and make this an easy, safe and secure method of managing your money.

Thank you,

Rockford Bell Credit Union
